LCS League Play Roundup
TDSC Dominates Springfield

With their second week come and gone, the Total Demize Soccer Club again reigns supreme both in southwest missouri and in Kansas City after local and traveling teams all but swept their respective leagues.

Local teams went 7-3-1 on opening day and play opened with the U-10 boys taking on the ever-strong Wizards.  After a 3-0 half time deficit, Coach Jack Rowden spurred his boys on to a second half come back but ran out of time, falling 3-2.  Rowden and his boys showed their commitment in their second game, cruising to a 4-0 victory over Pulaski United FC.

Also taking the field was TDSC’s youngest club, TDSC Coed U-8 and characterized the play that the coaching staff of the Demize tries to teach the kids from the beginning.  The team showcased passing, dribbling, communication, and most importantly finishing winning 2-0 over the Carson Kickers.  Ryan  walked away with a clean sheet, blocking everything thrown at him and being a commander in the back, while Wade Korn scored both goals.

It wasn’t all fairy tale on Opening Day, with the U-9/10 Girls falling short against Magic SC.  In pre-season friendlies, Magic SC swept the TDSC team 4-1, and the Demize showed they learned from their mistakes.  Kyndall was determined to not let it happen again, and played a majority of the match in the sweeper-keeper position to ensure a clean back line.

The second week of league action got underway with a 9-3-1 record for the club.  Both the U-10 boys and U12-14 boys recorded double digit victories, winning 12-0 and 10-0, respectively.  The U-14 boys showed the passing techniques practiced in training, with a triangle of passes inside the six yard box between Parker, Thomas and Bobby with Parker getting goal.  Also winning by high margins were TDSC Navy and TDSC Coed.

The U-10 squad showed their dominance in back to back games, their first game a 12-0 demolition of FGSA 99/00 Premier.  Jaxon had five goals while Cole and Evan  both hit doubles.  Tayler , Thomas, and Jacob each had a goal a piece.  In their second game against Snipers continued their goal scoring steak, hitting for six.  Spence has three, Josh hit twice, while Jaxon scored the final goal.  Goalkeeper Jacob recorded his third shut out of the season after the final whistle.

Kyndall was again the player to talk about as the U-9 girls held Ozark Explosion to a goalless draw.  The girls had a full schedule, playing twice in the same day, their second match a 2-0 loss to the U-10 SSC squad.  Alyssa stood out in the back, defending everything that came her way.

One talking point of the weekend came out of the U-13/14 girls team, who lost 2-1 the SSC 95/96 II team.  The game was firmly in the control of the TDSC squad until the referee spotted an infringement and awarded SSC a penalty kick.  After the call, the advantage completely shifted with SSC becoming the eventual winners.

In Heartland League play in Kansas City the U-17 girls team took the field Sunday with their first game being against Bayern Munich.  Munich had a very physical approach to the game and the U-17 girls found it difficult to deal with, being put to the ground more than once.  Prodigy were forced to come from behind, earning a 2-2 draw.  Marin ended the game with four stat points, assisting Rachel for her goal, while Marin got on the scoresheet to score the game-tying goal.

Their second game came in the form of Metro Elite, who took the same physical approach with the Prodigy girls.  This time the girls were prepared, coming up with a convincing 3-0 win.  Rachel ended the game with six stat points, scoring twice while Brooke scored the third.  The win puts Prodigy on top of the league with two points in between them and the second place team.

The U-15 girls also took the field Sunday trying to extend their season long unbeaten streak.  The TDSC girls ended up continuing the streak with 1-0-1 record for the day.  First up was a morale boosting 4-1 win over Lenexa Lightning.  Haylee earned six points by scoring twice, with Drianna and Kim scoring once each.

The second game would prove to be much more difficult, with the KC Outlaws 94/95 team putting a stop to the U-15 girls scoring spree.  For most of the game the girls came up trump until the dying moments when Brittany picked out Haylee.  Haylee claimed the game tying goal in dramatic fashion, beating the Outlaws keeper to her back post to earn a draw.  The girls remain top of their division and travel to Kansas City next weekend to continue their run.
