Who Are the Demize Reserves?

The Springfield Demize Reserve team is a U16-U23 soccer team that works closely with the Springfield Demize Premiere Development League (PDL) team during the season. The principle behind the reserve team is to provide professional training through the summer for high school boys trying to prepare themselves for college soccer, and current collegiate athletes trying to push their way into the Demize first team.  The 2010 Springfield Demize Reserve program will idealy help build players for the 2010-11 Springfield Demize Premier Arena Soccer League squad.

When Do they operate?

The Demize Reserves will operate during April, May, June & July. They will practice twice a week and their sessions will be run in conjunction with the Springfield Demize PDL team’s sessions. This will allow developing players’ access to training with and against some of the nation’s top collegiate soccer players.

Who do they play?

In addition to the training, the Demize Reserves will be participating in weekly scrimmages with the Demize PDL team and will play in exhibition games before the Demize PDL home games. This will allow the Demize Reserve players to showcase their talent against some of the areas top club and amateur teams. The Demize Reserve players will also have the opportunity to be called up to play in PDL matches. Robert Curtis (Lincoln Memorial), Kaleb Romero (Nixa) and Willis Zirschky (N.E.O) are players that were called up to play with the Demize in PDL matches in 2008 and were signed on to the Demize PDL team in 2009.

Who Will coach the team?

The head coach for the Demize Reserves is Dean Grey.  Dean went to William Woods in Fulton, MO which is a D2 program.  His PDL started his PDL career playing with the New Orleans Shell Shockers, before taking a graduate assistant job coaching for the Southwest Baptist Womens Soccer program.  Dean has been signed to the Springfield Demize PDL squad for the 2010 campaign. The coaching staff will also be supplemented with the Demize Head Coach and players. The focus of the coaching staff will be to teach team tactics and a possession oriented style of soccer. Fitness will also be an important ingredient of the summer training program.
